2012 Project 365 – Week Thirty-Eight

I should be cleaning my house, but I’m working on this post instead. As Bucky cat said when asked to help fold note cards in today’s Get Fuzzy cartoon, “Sorry Robert, I’m not skilled in the ancient art of chore-igami…” So this might be the longest P365 post ever!

Oh, and you should go & check out Dr. M’s latest post if you haven’t already – he uses a lot of pictures that I didn’t use here.

Saturday, September 15th
Squirrel on a wire – and then NOT on a wire. I love how Dr. M captured him leaping into the tree.

Baby pumpkin! I think it looks like one of the Thompson Twins.

The hummingbirds have been so much fun to watch. I love these pictures of them on the wire, and then of course doing what they mostly do, which is eat.

Sunday, September 16th
More hummingbird pictures. I must say that Dr. M made an excellent choice with our hanging basket this year – they love the thing.

Dr. M was taking a picture of the vulture, but I’m including it because the sky is so beautiful.

Monday, September 17th
A series of pictures where animals stare at Dr. M.

Tuesday, September 18th
I had a friend at work French braid my hair – it lasted for a couple of hours before my slippery hair slid right out again.

Isn’t this the most gorgeous picture? I think it’s my second favorite of the week (my favorite is on Friday).

Sheep!

More animals staring at Dr. M. Heh.

It’s fall!

Wednesday, September 19th
It was 38 degrees when I left for work on Wednesday. 38!! Rude!

More signs of fall & the gorgeous sky…

The feeders have been quite busy.

The lovely moon.

Thursday, September 20th
I gave blood today.

Sheep! [Please note the one staring at Dr. M]

Friday, September 21st
This squirrel is hilarious. He just stood there watching Dr. M take his picture.

I love this picture of a hawk…

But this is my favorite picture of the week – glorious!

Guard Burro staring at Dr. M.

Downy woodpecker next door.

I was doing my church lady duties by setting up the altar for Sunday. This is the cabinet with all the linens I have to use. Someday I really should do some research to find out what they all mean. I have a cheat sheet telling me what to do with them, but what is a purificator, exactly? Not to mention palls, corporals & lavabo towels…

Go to Sara’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. Dr. M seems to be a source of fascination for the animals in your area.

  2. Ha, Bruce! I have a feeling that for these critters it's like that old Steve Martin SNL skit, where he stood there for about five minutes looking off into the distance going "what the hell is that thing? Oh, I know what the hell that is! No, wait...what the hell is that thing?"

  3. Dr M is a very talented photographer. Purifiers in the Catholic Church are the cloth that we use to wipe off the area that the person drinks from. We then spin the chalice so that the next person drinks from a different spot and then wipe that, etc. Purifiers are washed in a special way and treated with respect because we believe our Eucharist is the real body and blood of Christ.

  4. Thank you, Brenda! And exactly, re: purifiers.

  5. I love animals when they stare with that kind of curious, vacant look...

Thanks for a glimpse of the changing seasons in your part of the world!

  7. For your French braid to have more staying power next time, have your stylist put hair gel on the strands (yes, even when it's dry) as he/she braids. That way, your hair will stay put.

When you take it out, just brush or comb the dried gel out. Use a wide-tooth comb if your hair is prone to tangling, but from what you said about it, it doesn't sound like it.

  8. So many beautiful pictures! I couldn't just pick one or two...

I, also, am only marginally skilled in the art of chore-igami. Alas, I may have to try and increase my skill set today.

  9. Great week!

That would be an interesting research project to delve into what all those terms mean. I know that at our church we have specific colors for specific time of the year according to the church calendar!

    Blessings

  10. Did your husband change his name to Dolittle? Apparently he charms all of the critters!

It's so cold here today. The high is 55 and I'm covered in wool. I'm almost feeling guilty about those naked sheep in your photos. Almost.

  11. I think I DO live with Dr. Doolittle! I guess I should be glad that he doesn't really want any pets :)

Robin - we're in the green season right now (ordinary time, or the 17th Sunday after Pentecost). I'm fascinated by the church calendar - I think that getting to set up the altar with the appropriately colored linens will be really fun for me.

  13. So much beauty!
You two really could publish and sell photo books of nature.
We have a pumpkin that looks like that too. Really late. Will it make it?
Son Stephan was in OH at a pumpkin carving competition this past weekend.

  14. Sigh. Cold weather, it sounds so wonderful. I almost threw a party the other day because it was down to a frigid 68 when I went for a run one morning.
I LOVE the picture of the fall leaves, but your favorite is quite fabulous, too.

  15. I love all of the animal pictures! Especially the birds (does that mean I'm getting old?). Dr. M takes some great picts!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
